Determine the exact day your ovary releases a mature egg and identify your most fertile hours for natural conception.
Egg is released 24–36 hours after the LH surge. Use OPK strips to confirm.
Each month, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) stimulates several ovarian follicles to mature. One dominant follicle develops fully and ruptures, releasing a mature oocyte (egg) into the fallopian tube. This egg travels toward the uterus and survives 12–24 hours — during which it must be fertilized to create an embryo.
Approximately 24–36 hours before ovulation, the pituitary gland releases a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH). This surge triggers the follicle to rupture and release the egg. Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detect this LH surge in urine — giving you advance warning that ovulation is about to occur.
