Identify your 6-day fertile window — the only time each month conception is possible — to maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
Use OPK strips to confirm the LH surge for precise timing.
The fertile window is the span of days in your menstrual cycle during which sexual intercourse can result in pregnancy. Research from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences confirmed that conception can only occur from intercourse on one of the 6 days ending on ovulation day — the five days before and the day of ovulation itself.
This window exists because sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days when favorable cervical mucus is present. The egg, however, survives for only 12–24 hours after release. Having intercourse before ovulation — when sperm can wait for the egg — is often more effective than waiting until ovulation day.
Sperm longevity (maximum 5 days) + egg viability (24 hours) = a 6-day window. Beyond these boundaries, pregnancy is biologically impossible in that cycle. The calendar method uses this science to estimate your personal fertile window each month.
Studies show the highest pregnancy rates occur from intercourse on the 2 days before ovulation and ovulation day itself. Having intercourse every 1–2 days during the entire 6-day window gives the best statistical odds without the pressure of hitting a single day perfectly.
